Sunday morning...the chickens have been fed since the sun was risin'. Everything in WV is coated in ice still. Even me I think. I've been locked away up here in my office- straddling two worlds like I love to do. An author always sits on the fence so to speak, never tippin' their toes fully into any real thing. Until you have a moment...an aha' moment- a moment in the middle of your day, in the middle of your mind...the kind of moment you wait countless days for. I had one of those last night- early morning I spose'. I sat straight up at my desk, smack dab in the middle of a vampire story, where the main character has to at last make her choice. Choose love or choose life.
The best kind of aha' moment in my wiseness, is the one that you didn't feel coming. The one you never saw until, BAM! there it is- the moment when you straddle the fence no longer. And what a good thing that is, no matter what heart break may follow after. That's life you know. It takes breaks of your heart til' there are no more to take, til' somehow all the pieces gone make something whole, and the heart beats again with nothing more than the moments that are now.
I passed on a 7 year signing. I passed cause' in an author's mind, 7 years is a very long time. So many stories, so many lives to live, so much to feel and to know and to learn. The greatest aha' moments are the ones we question ourselves about. We toil, we fret, we break, and we feel. For some of us, a lot of us, an aha' moment is almost always about love. How funny, my character has to choose her heart...or choose her heart. Life breaks us...and yet we learn to jump full forced from that fenced perch anyway. We leap, and we land, and we never stop running.
And which did she choose? To live or to love? Well, if I wasn't such a damned good author, I would spill. See that aha' moment you just had? You're welcome.
Hope your Sunday finds you leaping. Hope the days after find your feet dirty and sore from grabbing life and running wild with her. Every moment is a choice. Not every moment has an ...AHA'! Here's to finding yours. Happy Reads- <3, Elle Moon
